When Farm Aid announced that the 2019 festival would be held at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, it wasn’t long before we received a personal note from the team at Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
Although their headquarters is based in Austin, TX, the southeastern Wisconsin area is near and dear to several team members’ hearts. They even provided us with a list of the family farmers – and the local purveyors that support them – whom they visit when they’re in the area!
Farm Aid’s mission to keep family farmers on the land really resonates with the team and they made it clear that they wanted to show their support in a tangible way. In fact, a key characteristic of the brand they’ve built centers around philanthropy, so they established a program called “Love, Tito’s” years ago to share their success with the many organizations that they and their customers believe in. They even have their own program that supports community gardens around the country.
Together with the Love, Tito’s team, we developed a “matching gifts” campaign where the first $20,000 in online donations made by donors on the day of the Farm Aid 2019 festival would be matched by Love, Tito’s, doubling the impact of these generous gifts to Farm Aid.
Not only did our online donors meet that match amount, they exceeded it! Thanks to the match from Love, Tito’s, Farm Aid brought in over $96,000 in online contributions by the end of the festival day. And in the days following the festival, those donations continued to grow, resulting in an incredible total of more than $120,000 raised online.
We are so thankful to the Love, Tito’s team for this generous gift in support of our mission to build a family farm-centered system of agriculture and hope it might even inspire others to do the same!
