Step-by-step guide to a stellar Farm Aid concert
Get the details with the Farm Aid 2017 app: Get the Farm Aid 2017 app for iPhone and Android to create your personal schedule for the day; find out where you’re going with the festival map; check out the HOMEGROWN food and drink offerings; read about the hands-on activities in the HOMEGROWN Village; and learn about our Farmer Heroes.
Get your hands dirty: With dozens of exhibitors, the HOMEGROWN Village is where you can engage in hands-on food and farm activities, art projects, games, contests and much more. Bring seeds for our seed swap, learn how to compost at home, become a beekeeper and more!
Meet a Farmer: We’re here to celebrate family farmers and they’re all around you at Farm Aid 2017! Look for people wearing the backstage pass marked “Farmer,” meet them in the FarmYard and hear from them on the FarmYard stage.
Hear from the experts: Kara Holsopple and Julie Grant of Pittsburgh Public Radio’s The Allegheny Front host conversations with farmers and artists throughout the afternoon on the FarmYard Stage. Take a listen and learn a lot!
Eat HOMEGROWN: We’re proud to offer family farm food throughout the venue. Our own HOMEGROWN Concessions® serves you family farm-identified, local and organic foods at major concert events.
Make Soil: We’re passionate about composting and recycling. All of our packaging and utensils can go right in the compost bin. Our Green Team is there to help you make sure your waste goes in the right place!
Wear the mission on your T-shirt: Take home an organic cotton Farm Aid T-shirt, which will make its debut in our store later this week, and show off your farm fresh style. The impressive list of Farm Aid 2017 artists is on the back!
Chat with a volunteer: Hundreds of folks donate their time to pitch in and create an incredible Farm Aid experience for all festivalgoers. Our team in the volunteer t-shirts are ready to help out in any way!
Donate to the food drive: Farm Aid is partnering with the Greater Washington County Food Bank on our annual food drive to support the community in the concert region. Please bring non-perishable food items to be donated at the front gate!
Reach out to your neighbors: Music and food bring people together. Whether you’re in line for a Patchwork Family Farms pork chop, settling in at a communal table in the Fresh Stand, spreading your blanket on the lawn, or swapping seeds in the HOMEGROWN Village, strike up a conversation and make some new friends.
Eat some crunchy apples at the HOMEGROWN Youthmarket: It’s a farm stand run by young people who care about agriculture. And try the kiwiberries!
Support the mission: We can’t do our work without you! Make a donation at one of our donation booths (or right here online) and show family farmers you stand with them.
Take a break: It’s a full day of music, food and fun so pace yourself. Visit our UPMC Health Plan Rejuvenation Station so you can check in with your health, get some creamy lotions and emerge fresh as a local peach.
Have fun and spread the word: Tell your friends and family about your Farm Aid experience by posting about #farmaid2017 on social media.
